EPI.sk · A case study
From legal texts to connected information.
AToM supports the data and editorial workflows behind EPI.sk.
Start with the published legal text.
Slovak legislation forms the core of EPI.sk. The workflow starts with the promulgated version of a regulation. This is the version officially published.
Work with a hierarchy of fragments.
A fragment is the smallest individually addressable part of a legal text. AToM manages fragments, their hierarchy and their relationships. The output is a linked legal text organised into this structure. AToM also manages the metadata that describes the legislation.

Apply amended wording with editorial tools.
An expert editor uses a dedicated AToM function to apply new wording to the existing text. The function belongs to a set of tools for working with legal text fragments. AToM automatically checks all relevant relationships during this operation. This makes the editorial work efficient.
Keep related legal sources connected.
EPI.sk also includes Czech legislation, Czech and Slovak case law, and EU law. Case law consists of court decisions. These sources are connected.
Support the editorial system and the application.
AToM supports several layers of the editorial system. It also supports parts of the presentation layer, including search and user management. Its role extends to commercial processes and the service's business model.
